Ciudad Qwuesada!

We had a good week out here in Ciudad Quesada! Last week on Monday we went and hiked two sick waterfalls, so as far as costa Rica adventures we haven't been disappointed. It did rain the whole time haha, but that has become the new normal. And been on a restaurant tour just a little bit, costa Rican restaurants are called Sodas. Little Cafe sized restaurants, mostly just sell costa Rican dishes, and super cheap. Juice comes with everything. They are awesome. The banana is the LeBron James of Costa Rican food. It plays every position. Salsa, tortillas, fried, you name it. As we have been opening the area, this week was a grind. We spend some time out in the town square during the days when it is not raining talking to people and handing out pamphlets, and then when the rain comes we spend way to much time in the church calling people, members, interested people, people being taught. A lot of phone calls. That has been tough. But in conference the church leaders talked a lot of God's high expectations, and that includes our area. He wouldn't have sent us here if he wasn't preparing people to be taught! So we just need to keep plugging away! On Friday a member had a birthday, and we spent about 3 hours making popusas and cake. If you know me you can probably guess that 3 hours of just chilling out, especially on a mission, is about the last thing I want to do. Part of it I'm not sure if that is just the culture, or if my comp is trying to convince me otherwise because I am new here. Either way, good time, but not looking to just chillax for the last 10 months. Then conference on the weekend here on the big screen in the chapel, just me and my Comp haha. It was like our own movie theater. Did get to go watch 1 session with some members, had lunch, and shared a message. That was a highlight of the week. I will say, watching conference in Spanish was tough haha. But I still got a lot of great messages out of it! God loves us, and because he loves us he has high expectations. So don't let your expectations down, no matter where you are at in life! Have a great week! Elder Easton

Week 100 of my Mission

Not too many of these left! For all those who have stuck around until now (I think it is week 100 of my mission) thanks for all the support. Exotic fruit season has hit new highs. Mammonchino. Fuzzy little red balls with a grape (more or less) on the inside. Way too cheap. And everyone suddenly seems to have truck full of them on every corner. So life has been good. This week had some hilarious experiences with some of our buds from the streets. Someone started chasing me, slowly but surely, and yelled over and over "what are your country!?!" We could feel the frustration boiling up with him. Not sure if he was mad that his English wasn't all the way there, or possibly that I declined to say what were my country. Either way definitely a memorable moment.
